P2715 means pressure control solenoid D appears stuck on. Instead of modulating pressure as commanded, the circuit may be applying too much pressure or staying active when it should release.
How Stuck-On Feels Different
A stuck-off pressure solenoid often causes slip. A stuck-on pressure solenoid can cause hard shifts, bind-up, harsh engagement, or gear changes that feel too firm. The vehicle may protect itself with limp mode if the computer sees the pressure behavior is unsafe.
Common Causes
- Solenoid D mechanically stuck from debris.
- Electrical command or wiring issue keeping the circuit active.
- Valve-body wear or contamination.
- Fluid problems affecting pressure regulation.
- Internal failure causing the computer to command pressure aggressively.
Diagnosis
We look at commanded solenoid state, pressure behavior, fluid condition, pan debris, wiring, and related ratio or pressure codes. The key is whether the solenoid is actually stuck or whether the computer is reacting to another fault.
Can You Drive?
If shifts are violent, the vehicle binds, or limp mode is active, call before driving. Harsh pressure events can damage driveline parts and make an internal problem worse.
Repair Path
P2715 may be handled with a solenoid or valve-body repair if caught early. If contaminated fluid or clutch debris caused the sticking, the repair needs to address the source of that debris too.
