P0711 means the transmission fluid temperature sensor is sending a reading the computer does not trust. The fluid may really be too hot, or the sensor circuit may be reporting bad information.
Why Fluid Temperature Changes Shift Strategy
The transmission computer changes shift timing, converter lockup, and protection strategy based on temperature. If the temperature signal is wrong, the vehicle may shift harshly, delay lockup, go into limp mode, or miss the fact that the unit is overheating.

Symptoms
