P0760 Code: Shift Solenoid "C" Malfunction - Causes, Fixes & Arlington Heights Repair Costs

P0760 is a shift-solenoid C malfunction code. Solenoid C helps the valve body route fluid for certain gear changes. If it fails electrically, sticks mechanically, or cannot move fluid because pressure is wrong, the computer can set this code.

Why The Code Needs Context

Not every transmission uses solenoid C the same way. On one vehicle it may affect an upper gear. On another it may be part of a shift combination. That is why we identify the exact transmission before quoting a repair.

Common Symptoms

P0760 can cause harsh shifts, delayed shifts, a missing gear, limp mode, or a check-engine light with little obvious behavior at first. Some drivers feel it during highway entry; others notice it after the vehicle warms up in stop-and-go traffic.

What Gets Tested

  • Solenoid command and electrical response.
  • Connector and harness condition.
  • Fluid condition and pan evidence.
  • Valve-body wear or contamination.
  • Related pressure, ratio, and control codes.

When It Is A Targeted Repair

If the solenoid or harness fails testing and the fluid is clean, the repair may stay limited. That can mean a solenoid, connector, harness repair, or valve-body service depending on access and vehicle design.

When It Points Deeper

If the solenoid is clogged with clutch material or the transmission is slipping badly, replacing the solenoid is only treating the warning light. We show you the evidence before recommending internal repair.
